DescriptionThis is a rare and special find. The square powder compact, c. 1930's has survived in great condition, depicting the P&O Ship of Viceroy of India (sunk 1942), it is in super order. Measuring c. 1.7/8" inch square with octagonal edges, the chrome outer case is lovely, fully engine turned to the base. All clasps and hinges are in good order, opening to reveal an inner opening lid, also engine turned, with a clean powder well and a high polish steel/chrome mirror. The image to the top is very nice, the deep morpho blue butterfly wing is good, showing some minor natural fading below the clear celluloid cover. All in all a great collectable that I am sure will find its way to an appreciative collector.
